My paraplegic son lives in Seattle, where marijuana is legal, and is in terrible pain all the time from a spinal syrinx. They knew he would be in terrible pain and were apologetic but suggested a vape and marijuana the kind that makes you stoned as a substitute. So he spends hours a day stoned and incoherent and of course the weed has to be paid for by him or us.
The good news is that it does help him with the pain. I hope that makes sense. And I have had good results. I will continue to use it as long as I can. Yes, I find cannabis, medical marijuana, very helpful. I use a tincture oil at bedtime and vape for breakthrough pain.
Hi Nancy- I discussed with my migraine specialist about trying marijuana. His suggestion was 4 parts cbd to 1 Part thc. May I ask what works for you and Where you get it?
Is there a difference in efficacy between vap and oil? Is there a particular strain for migraines? Vape or vaping is the inhalation of water vapor that contains the active components of cannabis. Vapes that are mostly CBD are available, but they all contain at least trace amounts of THC the part that gets you high. Vapes are usually battery powered and very discreet. They also mostly contain CBD and are not meant to create a high. My morphine dosage was only 15 mg 3 times which is considered low.
I sleep better, feel calmer, am not cold all the time and I hope to be able to discontinue the morphine. I live in a state that has legalized marijuana so I hope to grow some low THC to harvest my own oil. Can this be due to the CBD Oil? Great thing to check out. I cough for a couple hours and my throat feels itchy every time I take a dose. He informed me yesterday that he seemed more hyper more energy , does anyone know if this is common or where I can get more information on this? I am looking for a CBD Oil that will help me with similar symptoms as you described. What brand are you using? I would like to try their product. I wonder if I would get the same symptoms if I took it a second time…say about 6 hour later.
I believe I had some relief in my arthritic knees and would like to continue. I had severe arthritis pain in my knees for over 25 years. I could literally tell you when the weather was about to change, how bad it would be and how long it would last…. I was way more accurate than the local weather man. After taking Glucosamine Chondroitin for 2 months, I am no longer able to tell you anything about the weather because the pain is completely gone!
At first I could hardly believe this could be true, that a herbal capsule could completely heal my arthritis. What upsets more is that none of the many doctors that i visited ever mentioned it! I too am now trying CBD oil for pain from a spinal injury and no negative reactions so far and the benefits are incredible no pain. Also, I would try changing the supplier and purchase only the best product that you can find. I had a negative experience with one supplier where their product gave me a bad headache, I changed suppliers little more expensive and the headaches stopped.
I had arthritis in my knee for eight years before I was told by a friend to try cod liver oil capsules. After about a month the pain was much less. Before I could hardly walk. I want to keep taking tge cbd — it works, just wonder if it can cause a rash as a side effect. Thanks for any info on the topic. But I agree with the question regarding the rash.. Although the oil is keeping me off narcotics; is the itching from the cbd oil??? Hi Meg I believe the itching could be from the CBD oil as i have heard this before but i have also heard that it can also be a reaction to the agent they mix the oil with.
I too am taking CBD oil for pain from spinal surgery and no negative reactions so far and the benefits are incredible no pain. Also, I would try changing the supplier and purchase only the best product that you can find or afford. I would stop taking the CBD oil you now have just to see if the itching stops. Next i would continue taking the oil for another week just to see if the reaction diminishes, if not, I would try another supplier.
My mum got me some cbd cream and drops in the hope to relieve some pain. My inr was very high this week 3. Can anyone offer advice?? I know this is gonna sound hilarious, but I am actually researching for a friend. My friend, age 73 and suffering from end stage copd.
He has passed out before. Anyway, he has been taking CBD about a month and has little effects positive or negative. There is an article about how much cbd you should take on cbdoilusers. I am also learning and trying to find what amount suits me. They say you have to find your sweet spot. They also have a list of good brands. Good luck to your friend, nice of you to help him. I started taking CDB oil under the tongue a few months ago for pain.

It tastes like I just popped a breath mint. I take the mg broad spectrum. Her skin was warm, dry, and without appreciable rashes or lesions. Laboratory findings including a basic metabolic profile, liver function tests, and a complete blood count were normal. The patient had previously undergone a comprehensive workup including gastric emptying study, esophageal pH studies, and upper endoscopy without any abnormalities.
Prior to clinic presentation, she had multiple urine drug screens that tested positive for cannabis while she was symptomatic. The patient had formerly tried a variety of antiemetic medications including ondansetron, promethazine, prochlorperazine, metoclopramide, lorazepam, and omeprazole. However, she denied that any of these medications had helped her symptoms with the exception of limited relief with metoclopramide which was discontinued secondary to diarrhea.
Interestingly, she did not have slowed gastric emptying, which is frequently associated with cannabis use in CVS [ 8 ], and we were unable to find any studies regarding the prevalence of delayed gastric emptying in CHS. At the next visit, the patient reported complete resolution of the previously refractory nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain within one day of starting treatment.
She denied any adverse effects from the haloperidol, and she self-discontinued treatment after three weeks without any recurrence of nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain. She was subsequently lost to follow-up; thus we were unable to determine her long-term prognosis. The pathophysiology behind cannabis-induced hyperemesis is not completely understood. Both endogenous cannabinoids anandamide and 2-arachidonoylglycerol and exogenous cannabinoids are known to act on CB1 and CB2 G-protein coupled receptors, which are primarily located in the central nervous system and the periphery, respectively [ 5 ].
The most prevalent and psychogenic cannabinoid in marijuana is 9-tetrahydrocannabinol 9-THC , although it is not known whether it is 9-THC, a cannabidiol, or a cannabigerol related chemicals found in cannabis that is responsible for the hyperemetic properties of cannabis seen in some chronic users [ 5 ]. While dronabinol a synthetic version of 9-THC is approved for the treatment of chemotherapy-induced hyperemesis, case reports have also suggested that it is capable of inducing emesis [ 10 ].
Animal studies indicate that cannabidiol has a biphasic effect in rodents, with low doses attenuating vomiting, but high doses potentiating emesis [ 11 , 12 ], which may explain the paradoxical effects of different cannabinoids. In animal studies, cannabinoids have been shown to dysregulate the hypothalamus which correlates with hypothermia [ 14 ]. However, as hypothermia is not consistently associated with nausea, it is unclear what connection the hypothalamic dysregulation has with induction of CHS symptoms.
Although the antiemetic mechanism of haloperidol has not been conclusively established, it is most likely related to blockade of the postsynaptic dopamine receptors in the brain.
Dopamine antagonism has been shown to decrease nausea and vomiting by lessening the effect of dopamine on D2 receptors within the chemoreceptor trigger zone, thus decreasing input to the medullary vomiting center [ 15 ].
This may explain its beneficial effect of reducing nausea and vomiting in our patient.
